Why you should start peeling or dry brushing

Why you should start peeling or dry brushing

Peeling is a very popular spa treatment that has a lot of benefits for the body.
I myself love peeling, and I do it around once a week with a sugar scrub from Green People (it’s the one in the picture, taking directly from their website) and it feels amazing while also hydrating and softening my skin.

First of all, a normal peeling is a little wet since it is often mixed with either water or oil. It’s done with sand, sugar, salt or the alike, to get the dead skin cells of the skin. After peeling with this kind of peeling, you need to wash the rest of the products off, so it might get a little messy. I recommend doing it in the shower.

Second, a dry brushing is done with a glove or brush with a rough surface to brush the dead skin cells of the skin. To get the best outcome, you should always brush your body towards your heart. This might be better for you if it is your first time or if you don’t want to do so much work, since this type isn’t sticky. It is easy and fast, doesn’t need water and is good if you have allergies for products.

Before I tell you the benefits of these, there are some precautions to take.
Even though it is not deadly (I’m sorry it sounds so dramatic, but it CAN be dangerous), I would strongly recommend you do not peel or dry brush without taking precautions when you:

  • Have allergies for the products used
  • Have skin cancer
  • Have extreme psoriasis or eczema
  • Have Phlebitis
  • Are sunburned
  • Waxed within 24 hours
  • Are pregnant in your first three months

Now to the fun part! Why YOU should start either peeling or dry brushing:

  • It removes dead skin cells
  • It strengthens the cell renewal by stimulating the lymph and your body circuits
  • It softens the skin
  • It Improves the skins complexion
  • It can seem calming
  • It relaxes the muscles
  • It calms the nerve endings
  • It detoxifies the body

All in all, I feel more alive after peeling, and it helps me feel calm and refreshed.

The link to the sugar scrub from Green People that I use, can be found here

Now. Have you ever tried peeling and dry brushing and why do you do it?? 😊

I hope you all have a happy life, one day at a time!

What to eat before and after a workout

What to eat before and after a workout

For this post, we will look a little at what is good to eat before and after a workout. That is approximately 30 minutes before, and up to 2 hours after.
The food I recommend you eat before a workout, provide instant energy and help with a healthy workout session. Mind this shouldn’t be a heavy meal.
The food I recommend for after the workout mostly provide some protein that helps repair tissues and helps build muscle.

Before workout:

  • Banana
  • Dried fruit/nuts
  • Peanut butter
  • Dark chocolate
  • Apples
  • Avocado

After workout:

  • Banana (bananas are always good)
  • Peanut butter (peanut butter is also good after workout)
  • Milk
  • Fish
  • Chicken
  • Eggs

Beside this I would recommend drinking lots of water, especially if you are doing a hard workout.

This was all for this time, so I hope you all have a happy life, one day at a time 😊 ❤

Foods to improve your mood

Foods to improve your mood

We all know those days where your mood is just… not helpful. Feeling cranky, mad or sad often leads to overeating, or stress eating- especially for me. I tend to reach for the easiest, most sugar filled, or fa(s)t food I can get.
(like the cake in the picture- which I made myself by the way)
Today we will look a little at what foods you can eat/or drink, to improve your mood in a healthier way!

  • Green tea:
Green tea has a calming effect on the brain and improves mental focus.
  • Dark chocolate:
Dark chocolate can reduce the level of your stress hormones.
  • Raw peppers:
Both red & green pepper, chili and bell peppers are high in vitamin C which reduces stress hormones
  • Water:
One of the first signs of your body being dehydrates is, that your mood and energy levels decreases, that’s why it’s important to keep hydrated at all times
  • Sunflower seeds:
Sunflower seeds are rich in both vitamin E, selenium and magnesium, which all contribute to mood improvement
  • Oatmeal:
Oats increase the production of serotonin which is calming
  • Blueberries:
These have a very high level of antioxidants and contains vitamin C which helps with repairing cells when we are stressed
  • Spinach:
Is told to boost and improve your concentration
  • Salmon:
Salmon has been told, to help decrease the feeling of anxiety

That is some of the great things to eat or drink when you are feeling down. I hope this was helpful to some of you!

I hope you all have a happy life, one day at a time

How to love yourself

How to love yourself

Well hello again friends! 😊

Today we will look a little at something that is both health and beauty related. That is: how to love yourself. When you love yourself, you find yourself feeling better, but also looking better.

So today I will talk a little about what I do, to remind myself and my body, that I love it. Because I-and you guys too- deserved to feel loved ❤

To love oneself is a hard but rewardable task.

A few great reasons to love yourself are: self-love attracts love, it reduces stress, helps you make healthier decisions, makes you feel and look younger, motivates you and make you seem more attractive.

Some of the ways you can achieve this:
Stop comparing yourself to others. Instead of saying they are prettier or more clever, realize that you are both awesome.

Take care of your body. It is the place you will live all your life, so make it feel great by pampering it once in a while and staying healthy.

Do something you love every day. This is a reward to yourself and a reminder that you are worth it.

Speak kindly to yourself and DO NOT call yourself names. It never helps on anything to call yourself ugly or stupid. You are listening so it will only make you feel down, and at some point, you will start believing it. Instead try turning it around so that when you want to call yourself stupid, tell yourself that everyone makes mistakes and it happens.

Know that you are not perfect, and no one is. Humans were never born to be perfect, they were born to be individually awesome. Instead embrace who you are and try playing by your strengths and strengthening your weaknesses.

Compliment yourself on a daily basis. If you compliment yourself daily, you will start believing what you say, so remember to tell yourself something great every day.

Learn to say no (or yes). Remember to say no to things that you sincerely do not want to, or things that just stress you out. But still remember to say yes to some things, like new experiences or stuff you deep down want to go to. You are worth it to be true to yourself.

Laugh every day. Laughing reduces stress and increases the happiness hormone in the body.

These was some of the things I do, to let myself feel loved, and I hope you will do some of these to. Some of these things might be hard to do when you start, but as you go on, everything gets easier. So do your best every day, because you deserve it, and you are worth it.

I love, love, love you guys, and I hope you all have a happy life, one day at a time. ❤ 😊

Benefits of walking

Benefits of walking

Welcome back all my lovely people!

Today we will touch a very important subject to me. That is: walking.

I love walking both as a way to relax, exercise and get some fresh air. I enjoy the nature, and all the different impressions one simple walk can do. That is why I aspire to take a walk every day.

So to get you guys to walk too, I wanted to tell you some of the great and countless benefits of a daily walk.

Mind though, a 30-45 minute walk everyday can accomplish all of this, so you don’t have to walk for 4 hours each day. Mind too, I’m talking about outdoor walking 😊

  1. Your mood will improve and you will feel happier. Regular walking modifies your nervous system and because of this you will experience a decrease in anger and hostility. And if you walk with someone else, it will help you feel connected and in that way boost your mood. Beside this, walking makes your brain release the “happiness” chemicals serotonin and dopamine, which lifts mood both during and after a workout.
  2. You might lose weight. Regular walking can help you improve how your body reacts to insulin and therefore reduce belly fat. Beside this it increases your metabolism and helps you burn extra calories and prevents muscle loss. Walking also releases a fat burning hormone called irisin, scientists have said that it appears to reprogram fat cells to burn energy instead of storing it (that is also why we get an increase in our metabolism)
  3. Your health will improve. Walking lowers your blood sugar levels and overall risk of getting diabetes. It can also lower your risk of having a heart attack by 35%, this is according to 18 different studies. Walking lowers the chance of developing lung cancer by up to 30% and can help reduce the symptoms of asthma or other lung diseases. It might also reduce lower back pain and limit chronic diseases. There has also been a lot of studies to find out If walking could make you live longer, and most of them found that, you can add almost 2 years to your life if you walk daily.
  4. You’ll poop better. Yes I just said poop. A regular walking routine can improve gastric mobility, which helps you get all that waste out of your body.
  5. You will improve brain power. Walking releases a protein called BDNF, this protein encourages growth of new brain cells, and can help against memory loss and dementia. Beside this it boosts the place in your brain that sparks creativity. Walking also help supply your brain with oxygen and glucose, which helps it function even better.
  6. It can make you look better. Walking (and exercise in general) can make your skin look younger, since walking increases the production of collagen, which is a protein that keeps your skin smooth and elastic. Beside this, walking might improve your flexibility, balance and posture since you walk up straight, and use a lot of the different muscles in your body. It can also help tone your legs, arms and butt.

That’s some of the many benefits of walking daily. These mentioned is some of my favorites.
That’s all for this time guys. I hope you all have a happy life, one day at a time 😊 ❤
