The topic is Makeup, and I will explain, exactly what it is and what to use it for.
Makeup can be a jungle to wrap your head around.
In this series we are looking closely at the different types of makeup products that exists.

Today our focus is all on Foundation.

If you want to you can watch this on my Youtube Channel

WHAT IS FOUNDATION & WHAT DOES IT DO?

Foundation is designed to do exactly what it is sounds like, make a foundation for the rest of the makeup to go on.
It gets applied to the face and sometimes down the neck, and decolletage.

It provides an even finish to skin, and is made to blur out imperfections and give a beautiful base for the makeup.

WHAT TYPES EXISTS?

  • Liquid
As the name suggests this type of foundation is a liquid that often comes in a pump. It glides on very easy and gives a good coverage. These can be both water-based or oil based and can be applied with a brush or a sponge.
Good for both dry and combination skin.

  • Powder
Usually comes in a compact or loose powder format.  Great for using on the go, or just in general since it is very easy to apply and comes conveniently in an easy packaging and with an application sponge. Can also be used with brushes or your own sponges. Since this is a powder, it gives a more natural looking or lightweight look while looking more matte than a liquid foundation.
Better for oily skin and people without fine lines since the powder sets anywhere it can get in.

  • Mousse
This type is usually a liquid but has air whipped in it so that it gets a lighter texture and therefore feel weightless.
Usually good for all skin types.

  • Stick
Because this is a stick, it is great for spot treatments (covering a few imperfections and blemishes), and therefore works a bit like a concealer. It does not take up much space so is easy to bring anywhere.
    Can be used by everybody.

  • Light Coverage
This is the coverage type of a foundation. It is a very sheer and natural foundation, that feels more breathable and still makes your natural skin underneath shine through.

  • Medium Coverage
This is another type of coverage for foundation. This type can be build up a bit more, and overall makes the face look even and smoother.

  • Full Coverage
The last type of coverage for foundation. This gives the best coverage, making sure the skin looks flawless and is completely covered.

DO I NEED IT & WHEN SHOULD I USE IT?

Everyone, no matter gender or age can use foundation since it can be used alone or with additional makeup. Because of the different types of coverage, it can be used as a natural and beautified look.

You can use foundation every day, but also choose to use it for special occasions. Truly foundation is a individual thing, but in general if you already have great and beautiful skin, you don’t really need it.
Unless of course you LOVE makeup and loves layers and layers. That type of makeup in general looks better with a good coverage foundation.
You can also choose to use it as a “barrier”. If you pick your skin or touch your face all the time, it can be a good idea to use foundation as a base, to make sure you keep your hands out of your face.

If there is some type of makeup you would like explained, tell me in the comments and we will get to it.

I hope you all have a happy life, one day at a time!
