A concealer is a makeup product designed to conceal imperfections on the skin.

This could for example be: dark circles, pigment spots, large pores, visible blemishes or age spots.

Concealer usually does the same thing- concealing imperfections; but you can get them in quite a variety of forms.

  • Liquid Concealer
Can come in many finishes (matte, sheer to full coverage and so on). Blends seamlessly into the skin.
  • Stick Concealer
This name comes from the way they package the concealer. It has a thick and creamy texture and is usually quite pigmented. it is really good for touch ups or blemishes since it is easy to bring and is precise when getting applied.
  • Balm Concealer
Even thicker texture than cream and usually stay put all day.
  • Cream Concealer
Thicker texture than liquid and is easiest blended in with fingers.
  • Cream to Powder Concealer
Looks like a normal cream, but dry down to look very matte
  • Powder Concealer
A powder with a lot of coverage. It tends not cover as well as a normal concealer and are therefore not as traditional. These are usually only picked if you do not like cream or liquid concealers.
  • Colour Correcting Concealer
Though this is not a form, I want to mention it anyway. It is a colored concealer that is used to cancel out any discoloration you have on your face. The idea is, that you need to use the colour on the other side of the colour wheel to cancel out the colour on your face. Lets take them here.
    Yellow ↔ Purple
    Red ↔ Green
    Orange ↔ Blue

No one really needs makeup, so the short answer would be no- you do not need it.

Concealer can be a good thing though, and many people might benefit from the effects that a concealer gives. It does not have to look unnatural and just a small amount can do wonders. It does not have to be applied with other makeup either, but can be used alone.

Concealer should be used as either step one or two in your makeup routine – all depending on if you use primer. If you do, use the primer first, then the concealer. If not, use the concealer first. This is of course not a rule set in stone, since many likes using it after foundation or later on; this is simply my preference.

If there is some type of makeup you would like explained, tell me in the comments and we will get to it.

I hope you all have a happy life, one day at a time!
