We all know those days where your mood is just… not helpful. Feeling cranky, mad or sad often leads to overeating, or stress eating- especially for me. I tend to reach for the easiest, most sugar filled, or fa(s)t food I can get.

Today we will look a little at what foods you can eat/or drink, to improve your mood in a healthier way!

  • Green tea:
    Green tea has a calming effect on the brain and improves mental focus.
  • Dark chocolate:
    Dark chocolate can reduce the level of your stress hormones.
  • Raw peppers:
    Both red & green pepper, chili and bell peppers are high in vitamin C which reduces stress hormones
  • Water:
    One of the first signs of your body being dehydrates is, that your mood and energy levels decreases, that’s why it’s important to keep hydrated at all times
  • Sunflower seeds:
    Sunflower seeds are rich in both vitamin E, selenium and magnesium, which all contribute to mood improvement
  • Oatmeal:
    Oats increase the production of serotonin which is calming
  • Blueberries:
    These have a very high level of antioxidants and contains vitamin C which helps with repairing cells when we are stressed
  • Spinach:
    Is told to boost and improve your concentration
  • Salmon:
    Salmon has been told, to help decrease the feeling of anxiety


That is some of the great things to eat or drink when you are feeling down. I hope this was helpful to some of you!
